Part of our Contemporary Dance Assessment we took part in a Contemporary Dance show which was an amazing experience as this would've been my first ever dance performance in Leyton Sixth form College. It was extremely nerve racking which was identified during my group choreography which consisted of me, Cagla, Sonia and Victoria which led to me panicking and forgetting one movement in me and Sonia's choreography, due to that I improvised however kept it in beat for the accompaniment and dance style. I felt massively upset as I felt as if I let my group down but I am proud of Sonia because she kept going and weren't distracted by what I was doing last minuet. At the end of the show I was so concerned and I kept on asking for feedback from everybody. The feedback helped as I got criticism from 'Performing Arts' (2nd year) which made me stronger. However mainly people in the audience didn't notice at all that I messed up the dance routine. I was shocked because that is all I cared about, about people realizing that I was doing something completely different and mostly importantly looking downed upon by my Musical Theatre teachers. The best feedback I got was the fact I acted quick upon me forgetting one dance movement and I adapted something straight away which I got told I should be proud of myself of that as this was just my first performance and also just being 4 months into the course. All I want to do is learn from this mistake and do better in a next dance show as I would like to prove to myself that I can do this and not let my emotions take over.
