After having several lesson with Dominique teaching us the actual choreography of 'Overdrive 'which is made by Richard Alston. Dominique herself gave us a task to create our own choreography but only picking out dance movements from the original piece. First of all, I isn't going to lie. I found it really challenging because I am not a expert at Contemporary dance. It isn't my cup of tea. I am usually a type of person who is a independent learner and is able to come up with a choreography really rapidly as it will be in my own style, also as I would be completely comfortable in it.
However I gave it ago, I adapted my movements from the original piece, and its just all came magically together. I was extremely proud of what I came up with. Even though "it was really short" as Dominique said herself, I was extremely proud of the fact I gave it a try. At the end of the lesson, Dominique gave us all feedback on our choreographies. I believe giving out feedback is really important because you as a dancer performing. You cant be aware of how you come across to the audience as you are mainly focused on you performance. Dominique: " Great energy and sharpness, started to enjoy it but it ended. Make it longer" I found this feedback really motivational to me, I know where I came from, and how much I worked hard on my first choreography, and getting a feedback like that to motivated me so much. It made me realise that if you put your all into it, it will definitely show in your performance as Dominique stated I had 'Great energy'
